Polyethylene glycol is used as solubilizing agent, solvent vehicle, ointment base, emulsion stabilizer, suspending agent and a plasticizer. It is widely used in pharmaceutical formulations; its application is in almost all dosage forms including solid oral, semi-solid, topical and parenteral formulations.
